About the project

Walthew House is a Stockport charity that has supported people who are blind and deaf for over 100 years. When they approached iindigo, their website was outdated and difficult to navigate, particularly for users relying on assistive technology.

We completely rebuilt the site from the ground up, with accessibility as the primary design constraint. Every page is structured to work well with screen readers, uses clear heading hierarchies, and meets WCAG accessibility guidelines. The result is a site that everyone can use, including the very people Walthew House exists to serve.

Since the rebuild, iindigo has continued to look after the site, adding new features and keeping everything up to date. The site now ranks at the top of Google for sign language courses in Stockport and generates hundreds of organic visits every month.

“Mark completely redeveloped our website about five years ago, and he did an amazing job turning it into something modern, professional, and easy to use. Since then, he’s continued to look after it for us, keeping everything up to date, adding new features, and making sure it always runs smoothly. Accessibility is really important to us because we support people who are blind and deaf, and Mark really understood that from the start. He made sure the website is simple to navigate, works well with screen readers, and is accessible to everyone who uses it. Mark is honestly a pleasure to work with. He’s friendly, reliable, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Whenever we need something changed or fixed, he gets it done quickly and always to a really high standard. He just makes the whole process easy. We can’t recommend Mark enough!”
